| SJB Federal Credit Union, is a community chartered,
community based member owned and democratically operated full service financial
institution, federally insured by NCUA. Membership is available to all persons
who reside, are employed or attend school in Fall River, Somerset, Swansea,
Freetown, Westport, Tiverton or Little Compton. |
| To maintain
and grow our marketshare through the planned expansion of our service area, a
total team commitment to member satisfaction, and continued introduction of
programs and service to better serve our members. |

In 1940, this credit union was formed with the
foresight of thirty-three charter members who purchased initial shares and
signed the original charter of our credit union.
From a simple
beginning, operating out of a variety store, the credit union could only offer
basic share deposit accounts and simple consumer loans. Today we offer all
varieties of both savings and loan products and operate out of a beautiful
building diagonally across from where we first started. |
| Since 1940 there have been many changes in the way
credit unions can operate. Regulations have increased and have been more
complicated. Our Board of Directors, with our employees, have made these
transitions without any adverse effects on our members. In most cases these
changes have made the credit union stronger and more consumer friendly. |
Each year brings forth new challenges and changes.
Our Board of Directors will continue to monitor these changes and attempt to
bring to you the best service possible. We will also continue to offer a wide
variety of everyday services to our members.
Originally, SJB Federal Credit Union
membership was limited to members of St. Jean the Baptiste Parish, but that
changed in 1969 when the field of membership changed to a community charter. In
1996, the credit union changed its name from St. Jean Baptiste Federal Credit
Union to SJB Federal Credit Union to reflect
our ever expanding membership and communities we service. |
